Hay artistas que usan el lienzo. Otros, la música. Y algunos, lo audiovisual. Andrés Sanz, grande en esta tercera categoría, es un creador raro en el cine español. Porque sus cortometrajes no son solo narrativos, sino emocionales y claramente arriesgados en lo artístico. Quien haya visto Bedford podrá intuir hacia dónde va su corto Flat love,que mañana lunes, a las 20.00, se puede ver en La Casa Encendida (ronda de Valencia, 3) junto con lo mejor de la última hornada de cortometrajes españoles.

Flat love cuenta con una narradora de voz subyugante, Isabella Rossellini, y una historia que juega a mezclar el amor, la pintura y las dos y tres dimensiones. Son 15 minutos de una relación sentimental casi imposible, en los que Sanz utiliza virtuosamente todos los recursos que pone a su disposición la pantalla plana y la posibilidad del 3D (de ahí el título del filme), la pintura pop y el aroma neoyorquino que también marcaba Bedford. Un camino que deberían tomar más cineastas, que a veces olvidan que las películas no son novelas ilustradas.

Siempre me fascinó "Laura" de Otto Preminger y, sobre todo, la escena en la que Dana Andrews sucumbe ante la deslumbrante belleza que despide el famoso cuadro en el que se representa a una fascinante Gene Tierney: ese instante explicará el comportamiento del protagonista masculino a lo largo del filme. Por tanto, este recurso del retrato como elemento primordial de una obra no es nuevo en el cine aunque, ahora, el madrileño Andrés Sanz ofrece una nueva vuelta de tuerca al tema en "Flat love", diseccionando con brillantez la interacción cine/pintura y profundizando en la estructura dramática de una pieza que exhibe una simbiosis perfecta entre estas manifestaciones artísticas y que alcanza, finalmente, un ejercicio fílmico que se asemeja a un manual sobre arte. El corto cuenta una delirante historia de amor en varias dimensiones. Sanz, dominador absoluto de la imagen, como pudimos apreciar en su pieza anterior, la espléndida "Bedford", escruta las sensaciones que experimentamos al colisionar visualmente con una obra que nos impacta. Así, un hombre que visita el MOMA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Nueva York) es atrapado por la exuberancia y sensualidad de una chica plana. Es Girl with ball, cuadro de Roy Lichtenstein. Aparece otra mujer, enamorada del protagonista que procede tal vez de una infancia recuperada y que se incorpora a este espacio tridimensional, configurando una nueva realidad en la que se funden las representaciones oníricas. Este precioso cuento está narrado por Isabella Rosellini, cuya sugerente voz reta al espectador a que se integre en una dramaturgia que estéticamente recibe el choque luminoso que enseña el pop art. El receptor acoge imágenes icónicas que exploran mundos que convergen en la emoción y que provocan sentimientos de deseo o admiración secreta, en suma, que destapan en su desnudez el amor platónico. Andrés Sanz une con rigor lienzo y celuloide, dando forma a un metraje que habla y mucho de realidad y ficción pero, sobre todo, de sueños, como explica en su blog: "Anytime I watched such a scene in a movie, I found myself dreamily fascinated". "Flat Love" es una pieza rica y estimulante, cuya caligrafía artística alienta una reflexión muy valiosa que se sustenta en el control absoluto de la imagen como engendradora de sentimientos. Con ella, Sanz escala un nuevo peldaño en su rigurosa filmografía.
